About the Boutique
Silvana is a cafe/boutique carrying an ever-changing selection of local and global goods — handmade soaps from a Harlem soapmaker; handmade jewelry from Israel; colorful handblown glassware from Mexico City; t-shirts by a Liberian-American designer; home decor from Uzbekistan; Moroccan rugs and pillow covers; quirky wooden dolls from Burkina Faso; ayurvedic-inspired artisanal dark chocolate.
About the Cafe
Sit at one of the vintage, communal-style wooden tables and you’ll be joined by an eclectic mix of families, students, freelancers, and local characters taking advantage of the free wifi and affordable refreshments in the cafe. Enjoy our organic, fair-trade coffee from Brooklyn Roasting Company, cold-pressed, no added sugar Fuji Apple Juice from Red Jacket Orchards, organic loose leaf teas from Miss Tea or a frozen margarita. Pair it with bourekas (a savory pastry filled with cheese, potato or mushroom), baklava, a halva milkshake or grab a bite to eat from our Middle Eastern food menu.
About the Live Music
Though it’s currently on hold, due to Covid-19, Silvana usually hosts 3-4 bands a night in it’s downstairs lounge. Bands range from singer-songwriters to Balkan brass bands to jazz quartets and any and everything in between. Our jam session nights are definitely not to be missed. Please keep an eye on our schedule here.
About the Food
Silvana serves up a Middle Eastern street foods- shawarma, falafel, hummus. Some of our most popular menu items are Shakshuka (two eggs poached in a rich tomato sauce with an option to add Merguez-spicy lamb sausage), Salmon Salad (served with mixed greens, roasted acorn squash, tomatoes and mangoes). Naturally healthy, our menu relies on fresh herbs, fragrant spices and bright vegetables, rather than heavy fats and oils.
